Born from Avalokitesvara’s Tears: Legend holds that the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, upon witnessing the suffering of sentient beings, shed tears of compassion—the left tear transformed into White Tara, while the right tear became Green Tara. White Tara vowed to assist Avalokitesvara in liberating beings, becoming one of the central figures among the "Twenty-One Taras."

Meaning of "Tara": The name translates to "Mother of Liberation," symbolizing selfless, maternal protection.

White Tara is also known as the "Seven-Eyed Goddess," her most unique hallmark:
